ABOUT THIS PORTAL
This portal is dedicated to the memory of our mother T.V.Sivakami (1924-2017)&
grandmother V G Sundaramabal(1908-1983), both of whom ,influenced our lives in great
many ways ,with their spirituality & profound Vedantic orientation & outlook.
This portal, hosts the vedantic works of our grandfather late V.S.Gopalakrishna Iyer (1898-
1962)& our father late T.A.Venkatarama Iyer (1911-1996),besides the family music
collections and Vedic chants by our uncle late T.A Kalyana Sundara Ganapadigal.(1924-
2006)
Shri. V.S Goplakrishna Iyer was a well known educationist in the old Madras state(now
Tamil Nadu) in his times. He was a head master in the famous MCTM.Muthia Chettiar High
school in Madras(now Chennai) and was later the correspondent of the MCTM group of
schools. He was an exponent of the Advaita philosophy of the great Adi Shankara and wrote
detailed commentaries in Sanskrit & Tamil on ‘Upadesa Sahasri’. This was published in the
year 1971, after his death with the kindness of Kanchi Mahaperiya Swamy. Goplakrishna
Iyer taught the Advaita philosophy to many people and held tri weekly classes & lectures for
many years in Madras city.
His students included some of the world famous philosophers of his times in Madras. His book can be accessed in the Book section of the portal. Shri T.A Venkatarama Iyer ,our father, followed in the footsteps of our grandfather in Vedanta. He took his father in law Gopalakrishna Iyer as his guru, in Vedata. Venkatarama Iyer was a master in Tamil & Sanskrit & an exponent of Carnatic music. He taught Tamil for many years in MCTM high school Madras. He wrote detailed commentaries in Tamil and Sanskrit on Shanakras’ ‘Viveka Chudamani, Dasasloki, Sathasloki, Kathopanishad, Manisha Panchakam & Mandukya upanishad with Gaudapada’ karigai. He was closely associated with the Madras Music Academy and staged Sankrit dramas and sang Carnatic music in the ALL INDIA RADIO, besides giving several stage performances in Madras & Bombay. He also continued with the tri weekly Advaita classes and lectures in Tamil in Madras city. He taught Thevaram & Thirpugazh to thousands of students of MCTM school in musical form with musical notes for many years. All his books except Satahsloki and Manisha Panchakam can be accessed in the Book section of the portal. In the Music section of the portal, visitors can find his Carnatic musical renderings both individual & family albums, besides a Lecture On Manisha Pachakam in Calcutta ,organized by our brother the late T.V. Balasubramanian.
Shri kalyana Sundara Ganapadigal ,our uncle & father’s brother was a well known Vedic
scholar who was highly respected. He was patronised as Chief Vedic scholar by the Sringeri
Mutt. He received the gold medal & honor as an outstanding Vedic scholar from the former
President of India the late Shri V.V.Giri. Some collections of his Vedic chants are located in
the Music section of this portal .
We want to place on record, our gratitude to Shri K Subramanian& late Jayanthi
Subramanian our brother in law and sister whose great help and commitment facilitated the
print versions of the works of Venkatarama Iyer. We are also indebted to our uncle shri.
V.G.Jagannathan who facilitated the print version of Viveka Chudamani ,entirely in Tamil
with his intellectual inputs.

Pictures of some Temples from the birth places of the authors.
All the books are available in PDF form for free download. The music can also be downloaded free. They are in mp3 format.
This portal does not solicit advertisements or donations at all and is created to provide an
enriching experience to followers of Advaita school of Vedanta and lovers of Carnatic music
and Vedic chants.
